Andrew Kruspe is a freelance teacher and performer in Huntsville, Alabama. He currently teaches the front ensemble at Sparkman High School (Harvest, AL) and instructs all percussionists in grades 6 through 12 at the Randolph School. He has performed with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, the Brass Band of Huntsville, and the Rocket City Brass.
Andrew is also very active as a percussionist for a variety of Celtic music ensembles. He has performed with SlipJig, Mithril, Black Market Haggis, David Coe and Friends, The Nashville Ceili Band, and banna de dhá. Specializing on the bodhrán (Irish frame drum), he also teaches workshops and clinics at universities and festivals throughout the southeastern United States. In 2013, he presented a session on the bodhrán with Dr. Kyle Forsthoff at the 2013 Percussive Arts Society International Convention. He is also the author of The Bodhrán Primer- an extensive method for this drum.
Andrew is a graduate of Louisiana State University (Master of Music, 2003) and the University of Central Florida (Bachelor of Music Education, 1999). While in college, he performed with the Madison Scouts and Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps. After graduate school, Andrew performed with the Marine Forces Reserve Band in New Orleans, Louisiana. His military performances included numerous domestic and foreign tours.
