Andy Meyerson is the
percussionist, co-founder, and artistic director of The Living Earth Show, a
chamber ensemble comprised of himself and electric guitarist Travis Andrews.
Called “outstanding” by the San Francisco Chronicle, “a vanguard effort of new
chamber music” by the San Francisco Examiner, “transcendent” by the Charleston
City Paper, and “a fully distorted perpetual motion of awesome” by I Care If
You Listen, The Living Earth Show is a megaphone and canvas for some of the
world’s most progressive artists. Memorizing every work it performs, The Living
Earth Show thrives on pushing the boundaries of technical and artistic possibility
in the performance of chamber music. The ensemble has commissioned and
premiered works by over fifty composers including Timo Andres, Raven Chacon,
Christopher Cerrone, Samuel Adams, Brian Ferneyhough, Nicole Lizée, Anna
Meredith, Sahba Aminikia, Jacob Cooper, Luciano Chessa, M. Lamar, Ted Hearne,
and Zachary James Watkins. Many of these commissions can be found on the
group’s critically acclaimed albums High Art (innova, 2013) and Dance Music
(New Amsterdam, 2016). The ensemble has been presented by festivals, concert
series, universities and conservatories across the United States.
Meyerson is also music director for San Francisco-based renegade dance
collective Post:Ballet, drummer and co-founder of the militant queer nü-metal
collective COMMANDO, and a renowned solo percussionist. His first solo album,
“My Side of the Story,” was released through slashsound recordings in 2016, and
his next is scheduled for release in 2018. Andy Meyerson is a Spaun Drums and
Innovative Percussion endorsing artist.
