Brian Duffy is from Minneapolis, Minnesota and holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and a Masters Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Minnesota.
Brian currently performs with Janus Percussion (www.januspercussion.com
), a contemporary percussion duo based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a founding member of Penumbra Percussion Duo, an ensemble that has performed with percussion virtuoso/composer Nebojsa Zivkovic in Greece, Germany and the United States, including PASIC in 1998. As an orchestral musician he has served as an assistant percussionist with the Duluth-Superior symphony Orchestra and as principal percussionist with the Encore Wind Ensemble. Brian was the First Prize Winner of the Heartwood Marimba Competition in 1999 and was a candidate in the 2004 Belgium Marimba Competition.
Brian is an adjudicator for the Minnesota Percussion Association and has served as a judge for several marching band competitions and state solo/ensemble contests. Brian has worked with several marching band programs in Minnesota and Wisconsin and was the Frontline Instructor for Minnesota Brass Incorporated, a senior drum and bugle corps. He has been a guest clinician/performer at several state percussion and music conventions throughout the United States. Brian currently serves ad Director of Bands at Robbinsdale Cooper High School in New Hope, Minnesota. He is an artist and design consultant for Majestic and Mapex Percussion.
