Chris Riggs serves as Adjunct Percussion Professor at Sam Houston State University.  In addition to teaching applied lessons and percussion methods, Chris directs the University Percussion Ensemble and Bearkat Marching Band Drumline.  Prior to this appointment, Mr. Riggs received his Masters from Northwestern University where he studied with She-e Wu, James Ross and Michael Burrritt.  He also holds degrees in music and philosophy from Oklahoma University, where he studied with Dr. Lance Drege.  Additional teaching experiences include the Northwestern Drumline as well as positions at high schools throughout the Chicago, Houston and Oklahoma City areas.

As an active performer, Mr. Riggs has recently been appointed percussionist of the Abilene Philharmonic.  He has also been a substitute with various orchestras including the New World Symphony and Civic Orchestra of Chicago.  Mr. Riggs has free-lance with many Chicago-based ensembles including Third Coast Percussion, dal niente, Accessible Contemporary Music and Sonic Inertia.  He has also shared the stage with Bob Becker, She-e Wu and Peter Soave at Chicago's Millennium Park, and with Emmanuel Sejouene at the PAS International Convention.
