Henry Williams III

A native of Virginia Beach, VA, Henry now resides in Northwest Indiana where he currently serves as the Percussion Coordinator for the Lake Central High School “Tribe of Pride”. During the summer of 1999, Henry began marching DCI as a member of the Tarheel Sun Drum and Bugle Corps from Cary, NC. In 2003 Henry ended his DCI performance career as a member of the Carolina Crown Drum Bugle Corps from Ft. Mill, SC.  

After aging out from DCI, Henry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a member of “The Commandants Own; The United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps” from 2005-2009. During his time in the “D&B”, Sgt. Williams served as an arranger and instructor for the percussion section as well as the Bass Drum section leader for two years. While in the drum corps Henry had the opportunity to perform all over the U.S. and the world in such places as Paris, Versailles, and Belleau France; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Fort Henry, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Besides multiple military ceremonies and events Henry had the opportunity to perform on live television as part of the “PBS Capitol Fourth Celebration” on the Fourth of July as well as multiple appearances on the “Fox and Friends” morning television show. Following his time in the “D&B” Henry transitioned into a combat logistics unit and became a Team Leader with PRP CO.(-), HQSVC BN, 4th MLG stationed in Anacostia, VA. This move lead to Henry deploying to 
the Helmand Province of Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010. 

During his time teaching, Henry has written, instructed and consulted for several groups throughout the United States. Notable groups include River Hill High School from Clarksville, MD; Hickory High School from Chesapeake, VA; Colonial Forge High School from Stafford, VA and the Towson University Tiger Drumline from Baltimore, MD. In 2013 taught the WGI PIW Finalist George Mason University Indoor Drumline from Fairfax, VA and since 2015 has been on percussion staff with the WGI PIW Finalist Cavaliers Indoor Percussion Ensemble from Rosemont, Illinois. Henry also spent four years (’09,’12,’13,’14) as a member of the percussion staff for the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from Dubuque, Iowa and in 2015 as a member of the percussion staff for the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps from Atlanta, Georgia. The 2016 season will mark Henry’s first year as a member of the percussion staff of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.
