Juli Brooks has been performing and teaching music for over twenty years. Juli earned a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from Nazareth College of Rochester where she studied percussion with Kristen Shiner McGuire, and earned a Graduate Performance Degree in Marimba from the Boston Conservatory, where she was a student of Nancy Zeltsman. Juli also attended the Leigh Howard Stevens Summer Marimba Seminar and has performed in masterclasses for Keiko Abe, Gordon Stout, and Evelyn Glennie, among others. Juli was a performing member of the Empire Statesmen Senior Drum and Bugle Corps from 1987 – 1993, was a performer and instructor from 1997 – 200, and won five World Championships and five percussion titles with the group. Juli was also a five-time winner in the Solo and Ensemble Competition at The Drum Corps Associates World Championships. She is a founding member of the Greater Rochester Area Percussion Ensemble and has been a percussionist in several orchestras, including the Greater Rochester Women’s Orchestra and the New England Philharmonic. Ms. Brooks has taught several front ensembles in New York State, including Medina H.S., Eastridge H.S. and Hilton H.S. She has been a member of the Hilton Drumline staff since 2001. She has also performed many clinics and masterclasses for high school and college students in New York and Massachusetts. Juli has been lead singer and percussionist in Five Eight Five, a corporate party band located in Rochester, NY for the past five years.
