Matt has been active in the marching percussion community since the age of 15 when he began his drum corps career in a Houston area senior corps. Since then he has performed with the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, Surround Sound Percussion, the City of Washington Pipe Band, Oran Mor Pipe band, and the Rough Drags. He has performed and competed in almost every state as well as Canada. In 2011, He was honored to perform at PASIC as part of a clinic on Scottish snare drumming.

Matt is currently engaged in a wide variety of design-oriented disciplines including architecture and city planning as well as marching and the percussive arts. In addition to pursuing his architectural license, he is entering his 10th season as a percussion instructor, designer, and battery arranger at Van Buren High School where his students have won multiple state and regional championships. He has also served as a percussion instructor for the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps, the University of Arkansas Razorback Marching Band, and around a dozen public schools for grades 6-12.

Matt’s administrative experience includes time as an assistant tour director for the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, an appointment to the City of Fayetteville’s Board of Adjustments where he is serving a four year term, and his role as founder and Executive Director for RVI Percussion Ensemble. Under his direction, RVI has performed at New York University in New York City, PASIC in Indianapolis, and WGI World Championships in Dayton, becoming the first ensemble from Arkansas to make finals at WGI World Championships.
