Houston native Mike Freel began his music studies at the age of 7 with private voice and guitar lessons.  Soon he began singing in the Houston Boys Choir as a soprano soloist then entered band as a drummer in 5th grade.  He has worked as a teacher arranger peruccionist and producer with over 15 years professional experience.  Also has worked with several top industry professionals in his fiels including Disney Composer Dave Metzger.

In 1993, Mike became a mallet keyboard percussionist for the World Renowned Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps from Concord, California.  In 1994, Mike's last year as a member the Blue Devils won the DCI World Championships were undefeated and took 1st place in all captions. Mike was inducted into the Blue Devils Hall of Fame in 1994.

Launching his professional career in 1995, Mr. Freel began arranging and composing for several successful High School Marching bands and summer youth bands across the country, which includes St. Louis and throughout the Northwest.  Teaching highlights in the Northwest include working with Northern Lights Summer Youth Band and Sunset High School, which earned many awards including 1st place in both the Northwest High School Championships and Portland Oregan's Festival of Bands several times.  During this time Mike working with Steve Robertson hosted the very first winter drumline competition in the Northwest at Columbia River High School and Tigard High School and helped several schools start new winter percussion programs that all run strong today.

For the past few years Mike has worked as a Pro Tools HD engineer and music producer for several local artists both in Protland and Los Angeles.  Most recently while in Los Angeles he played vibes weekly with the House of Vibe All Stars at Harvell's Blues Club in Santa Monica, California.  Mike currently resides in Portland Oregon and is a senior at Portland State University studying Percussion Performance with Dr. Joel Bluestone.
