Ryan Frost is Instructor of Percussion at Fairmont State University and Waynesburg University. He has experience teaching percussion, pedagogy, music appreciation, and a variety of world music ensembles as a faculty member at several institutions including the University of Northern Iowa, Middle Tennessee State University, and Washington & Jefferson College in addition to his current positions.
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Percussion from the University of Northern Iowa, a Master of Arts degree in Percussion Performance from Middle Tennessee State University and is currently a candidate for a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Percussion Performance at West Virginia University. While at WVU and MTSU he served as graduate teaching assistant in the percussion studios and for the WVU World Music Performance Center. Frost was the recipient of the Global Education Opportunities grant which enabled him to study West African drumming and dance at four cultural centers throughout Ghana during the summer of 2010.
Ryan has studied percussion with George Willis, Michael Vercelli, Lalo Davila, Jim White, David Pruett, Randy Hogancamp, and Jeffrey Smith. He has performed with the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony Orchestra and Wartburg Community Symphony Orchestra. Ryan proudly endorses Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets.
