Tom Nord started playing percussion during band class in 5th grade and he hasn't stopped. He went to Bismarck High School in Bismarck, North Dakota and played in the Screamin' Demon Jazz band, Jazz Combo, Jazz Choir, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble. While in high school Tom played with the Bismarck Mandan Symphony Orchestra, and had seven years of private lessons with Brad Stockert. Tom is on break from a Music Education Major at Minnesota State University, Moorhead. While at MSUM he did play in Jazz Combos, Percussion Ensemble, Fuego Tropical (steel/salsa band), Poco Fuego (steel/salsa combo), Orchestra, Wind Ensemble He also studied with Allen carter and Dr. Kenyon Williams. Throughout high school and college Tom has had the privilege of sharing the stage with Steve Houghton, Liam Teague, Lalo Davila, Michael B. Nelson and Pink Martini.

Currently Tom has found a home outside North Dakota on the road playing drums fro Jason Mitchell, a country singer from Nashville Tennessee. Jason is managed by Dale Morris and Associates, the same management responsible for Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson and Big & Rich, and many others.
