Regardless of what music style percussionist Will Phillips is called upon to play, three important ingredients remain constant.  First is groove - the ability to elevate the music, to fit perfectly within the context of the ensemble and to make it feel better.  Phillips does this with total musicality – the second ingredient.  He understands that the end result is always about the music.  And third is versatility.  This is evident from the collection of artists he’s performed and recorded with.

Born and raised in Texas and recently relocating to Los Angeles, Phillips is rapidly gaining an in-demand reputation.  Captivated by Brazilian music, he’s spent time living in Brazil, studying with that country’s masters and recorded many TV jingles during his time there. Inspired by this deep experience, Will now enjoys a constant journey of adapting Brazilian percussion to all styles of music.

In 2011, Will was presented with a Latin Grammy certificate of Nomination, for his performance on Claudia Brant’s album “Manuscrito”.  He’s appeared on TV international mega-hits The Voice, American Idol, MTV Brazil and was the house percussionist for the 2010 American Music Awards’ Red Carpet Gala.  Just some of the artists Will Phillips has performed or recorded with include Will-i-am, Ellis Hall, Persian superstar Googoosh, Academy and Grammy Award-winner Jamie Foxx, NBC’s The Office/original member of The Grass Roots - Creed Bratton and many more.

Phillips has toured extensively worldwide and feels blessed to have worked with musicians that are not only a source of inspiration, but are also his friends.  Renowned percussionists Luis Conte, Kevin Ricard, Michael Shapiro, Randy Gloss and Jimmy Paxson have all sung Will’s praise, considering him to be one of LA’s most important and up & coming percussion artists.

Will Phillips proudly endorses Gon Bops percussion instruments and Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets.  More info and contact can be found at www.facebook.com/willpercussion.
