From Cali, Colombia, Diego is an up and coming percussionist who started in music at a very early age inspired by his uncles, who used to play percussion as a hobby at all the family functions. Intrigued by percussion instruments while in school Diego started studying formally and very soon he was playing for local orchestras. After high school Diego started playing professionally for bands in and out of Colombia and these tours took him around the world.
Among Diego's latest accomplishments are his participation in the latest recording by puerto rican flutist Nestor Torres which was nominated for a Grammy and Latin Grammy for Best Latin Jazz album as well as the gold and platinum recordings with Rey Ruiz and Tributo a la Salsa Colombiana.
Diego has played with Grupo Niche, Son de Cali, Guayacán Orquesta, Tito Nieves, José Alberto El Canario, Jerry Rivera, Luis Enrique, Re Ruiz, Gilberto Santa Rsoa, La India, Richie Ray y Bobby Cruz, Tito Rojas, Cano Estremera, Luisito Carrión, Pedro Brull, Roberto Blades, Frankie Negrón, Elvis Crespo, Kevin Ceballo, Adolescentes Orquesta, Ray Sepúlveda, Pedro Arroyo, Maelo Ruiz, Tito Gomez , Willie Gonzalez, Orquesta Mulenze, Victor Hugo, Sonora Carruseles, Alberto Barros y su Tributo a la salsa Colombiana, Ismael Miranda, Junior Gonzalez, Lefty Perez, Luigi Texidor, Grupo Gale, Wilson Saoko, Javier Vazquez, Wichie Camacho, Charlie Cardona, Joe Arroyo, and Fruko y sus tesos. In addition, Diego has shared the stage with great musicians and percussionists like Robert Vilera, Kachiro Thompson, Celso Clemente, Diego Gale, Edwin Clemente, Douglas Guevara, Chino Nuñez, Alex Acuña, Roberto Quintero, Luisito Quintero, Jimmy Bosch and Jose Aguirre.
Currently, Diego is well known as one of the top Latin percussionists in Miami, his specialty is the Timbales but he is proficient in other world percussion instruments as well. Diego leads his own band Latin Soul and is in demand as a percussionist and music director for various Latin bands in Miami.
