Max Meyer is the current Director of Percussion and Jazz at Riverton High School in Riverton, UT where he teaches Percussion Ensembles 1-3, Junior Varsity Jazz Ensemble, Varsity Jazz Ensemble, and Guitar. At Riverton High School Max is the Curriculum Team Lead, participates in the school Professional Learning Community Intervention Team, and is on School Community Council.
Riverton High School has a proud tradition of excellence over the past seven years including many students earning Superior Ratings at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival including all three levels of the percussion program qualifying for state performances in 2017 and 2018. In addition to those accomplishments, the Percussion Studio was 3rd place in the Utah Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Day of Percussion in the Intermediate Category in 2018 and 3rd place in the Utah PAS Day of Percussion Advanced Category in 2019. The Varsity Jazz Ensemble consistently qualifies for the State Jazz Festival and in 2019 earned an overall Superior Rating.
Max has adjudicated for the Utah Music Educators Association (UMEA) Region Solo and Ensemble festivals, the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Utah Day of Percussion, The Intermountain Percussion Association (IMPA), and presented at the 2017 and 2019 UMEA Mid-Winter Conference. In addition to serving as an adjudicator Max has worked as a staff member for Gold Spike Percussion, The Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps, The Empire Statesmen, and has performed with the Utah Wind Symphony and Hilltop Gospel Choir.
Max is an Educational Artist for Innovative Percussion and Evans Drum Heads. He graduated with his Bachelors in Music Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and recently graduated with a Masters Degree in Education Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah. In his free time, he plays in the worship band at South Mountain Community Church, loves to cook, and occasionally snowboards. He resides in South Jordan, UT with his wonderful wife Stephanie and their first kiddo Finley.
