Mike Hodges
Phantom Regiment & Coppell High School
Mike is a performer, educator, and clinician in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He currently serves as Assistant Percussion Director at Coppell High School where his duties include instructing the drumline, percussion ensembles, and teaching private lessons. Mike is also on staff at the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps as a battery instructor.
Mike has been a member of the 2002 PAS Champion UNT Drumline, the Phantom Regiment, and the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, winning two DCI World Championships in 2002 and 2004. He received 1st place in the PASIC Tenor Solo Competition in 2003 and 2004, 2nd place in the DCI Tenor individuals in 2003 and 2005, and 1st place in the PASIC High School Tenor Solo Competition in 2001. He performed alongside marimba virtuoso Keiko Abe and the Marimba Ensemble Japan at PASIC in 2006. After winning the UNT concerto competition in 2004, Mike performed as a soloist with the Richardson Symphony in 2004 and 2005.
Mike is a graduate of the University of North Texas, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance studying under Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, Paul Rennick, and Poovalur Sriji, among others. While at UNT, Mike was involved in a variety of percussion ensembles and can be heard on recordings by the UNT Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band.
Mike maintains a busy schedule playing drums and percussion in a variety of musical settings in the DFW area, including his own groups Backside Pick and Dr. Mobuto. He is a sought after marching percussion instructor/clinician and maintains a private studio in Denton.
