David Vittetoe is a percussionist in the Metro East St. Louis area. He is the owner of Studio Vittetoe Percussion where he teaches private students of all ages. David is currently the percussion coordinator and caption head for Belleville East High School Lancer Band. Previously he spent four years as a battery technician for O’Fallon Township High School Marching Panthers and as the percussion coordinator for District 90 schools in O’Fallon, Illinois. David is an active performer in the Metro East St. Louis area with his musical interests ranging from wind symphonies, Scottish pipe bands, Celtic Groups, Latino orchestras, Christian, Jazz, Rock and Pop bands.
David served 23 years as a percussionist with the United States Air Force Bands with various assignments throughout the United States. Highlights of his career included two deployments to Southwest Asia in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the various gigs performed within the continental United States and Hawaii and sharing the stage with the Airman musicians he served with over the 20 years. Additionally, he also shared the stage with Chuck Mangione, Winona Judd, Amy Grant, Take-6, Diamond Rio and Leanne Womack and opening for comedians Jay Leno, Gabriel Iglesias and Martin Lawrence.
Mr. Vittetoe holds a Bachelor Degree in Multi-Disciplinary Studies from Liberty University, Virginia. He studied percussion at the University of Tennessee from F. Michael Combs, Keith Brown, J. Vincent Harris and Dr. Brett Paschal. He has also furthered his study in drum set from Rob Leytham, Dom Famularo, Jim Riley and Bernard Long. He is continuing his study in Jazz Vibraphone with Tim Collins.
David is a member of the Percussive Arts Society and Illinois Music Educators Association.
