Angel Martinez is the Assistant Band Director and Percussion Instructor at McAllen Memorial High School in McAllen, Texas.  He is responsible for conducting the Symphonic Band, assists in team teaching the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble and travels to the feeder middle schools to instruct as well.   He is also responsible for the Memorial Marching Percussion section during football season, Indoor Percussion Ensemble and the various concert percussion ensembles during the winter and spring seasons.

Under Angel's direction, the McAllen Memorial High School Percussion section has received recognition placing consistently in the top 3 at several indoor percussion festivals across the Rio Grande Valley, won an outstanding percussion section award at marching band contests, and placed in the top 3 at the Roma Fall Percussion Festival.  His percussion ensembles have received first divisions at the Region 15 UIL Solo and Ensemble contest along with several students receiving first divisions on their solos, qualifying them for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest held every May in Austin, Texas.  McAllen Memorial also hosts its own percussion festival every spring, having both students and directors run the festival.  Many of his students have gone on to major in music and become music educators and teachers.

In addition to being an educator, Angel is also a performer with the Rio Grande Valley Symphony Orchestra, the McAllen Town Band, and Rio Grande Valley's Unified Percussion Ensemble.  Angle is also an adjudicator at various indoor percussion festivals and solo ensemble competitions in the local area.

Angel attended Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas, studying under John R. Fluman.  He is a current member of the Texas Bandmasters Association and the Texas Music Educators Association.  Angel resides in McAllen, Texas with his wife Edna.
