Michael is a Merced, California native, where he went to school and began band in 5th grade and continued through his years as a member of the Merced Marching 100 at Merced High School. While earning his degrees in Music Education and Music Composition at California State University, Stanislaus, Michael performed with the 2009 Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps and was a member of the Sacramento Freelancers in 2010.
Michael has instructed and written for a number of high schools throughout the region, including Madera South High School, Turlock High School, Pitman High School, Merced High School, Beyer High School, and has acted as a consultant for James Logan High School. In the independent realm, Michael has instructed the front ensembles of the Sacramento Mandarins (Sacramento, CA), Santa Clara Vanguard Winter Percussion (Santa Clara, CA) and the Blue Devils ‘B’ Corps (Concord, CA).
Currently, Mr. Flores is the front ensemble coordinator and arranger for Central Valley IMPACT Percussion (Modesto, CA), and is also on design and music staff for Merced High School and Beyer High School. He is the band director for Delhi High School, where he began the school’s first band and guard program. He began and currently instructs and designs for the Delhi Winter Percussion program.
He currently serves on the board of Central Valley Guard and Percussion Circuit as the Treasurer.
