Percussionist N. Scott Robinson received his BA from Rutgers University, and his MA and Ph.D. were earned at Kent State University. His teachers included Peter Erskine, Keith Copland, Chad Wackerman, William Moersch, Robert Benford, Glen Velez, Naná Vasconcelos, Malcolm Dalglish, Cosmas Magaya, Chaka Chawasarira, T.V. Vasan, Erode Nagaraj, Amrit Nataraj, and B. Shreesundarkumar. Dr. Robinson is currently the Chair of the Percussive Art Society’s World Percussion Committee. As an Assistant Professor for the Music Department at San Diego Mesa College, Dr. Robinson directs the World Music Ensemble and teaches Applied Music-Percussion (drumset, classical, and world) and courses in popular music, and ethnomusicology/world music. Robinson performs on vibraphone and percussion on the Grammy Award-winning CD Harlem Renaissance by Benny Carter. Wind & Fire by Mark Holland and N. Scott Robinson won a 2010 Indian Summer Music Award in Native American music. He has 13 compositions published by HoneyRock Publishing, has performed on 40 CDs/DVDs, and has worked as a percussionist with Paul Winter Consort, Glen Velez, Larry Coryell, Jeanie Bryson, Art Baron, Howard Levy, Jamey Haddad, Michael Formanek, Simon Shaheen, Bill Miller, R. Carlos Nakai, Joseph FireCrow, George Crumb, John Cage, Michael Colgrass, Cleveland Orchestra, New Jersey Percussion Ensemble, Marilyn Horne, and Peter Mayer. He has performed at national and international music festivals and venues across the USA and in Canada, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, Italy, Germany, Mexico, and Greece.
