Andy Kruspe is a freelance percussion instructor from Huntsville, Alabama. He currently teaches adjunct at the University of North Alabama and coordinates the front ensemble for two-time Winter Guard International Percussion Scholastic Open Champion Sparkman High School.
Andy is also active as a bodhrán teacher and clinician. He has taught throughout the United States and Ireland and regularly performs with Black Market Haggis, the Liminal Duo, and 2nd Breakfast. Andy is also the author of four method books for the bodhrán- First Steps: A Beginner's Guide to the Bodhrán, The Bodhrán Primer, Playing the Tune: Techniques for Accompanying Irish Traditional Music on the Bodhrán, and In Session + One (with Scottish bodhrán player Martin O’Neill).
Andrew is a graduate of Louisiana State University (Master of Music, 2003) and the University of Central Florida (Bachelor of Music Education, 1999). While in college, he performed with the Madison Scouts and Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps. After graduate school, Andrew performed with the Marine Forces Reserve Band in New Orleans, Louisiana. His military performances included numerous domestic and foreign tours.
