Ben Ripley is a percussion educator from Waterloo, Ontario who specializes in marching percussion.
He is the Percussion Caption Head for Blue Saints Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI Open Class). He has held this title since 2014 after marching and teaching with the organization for several years. While under Ben’s leadership the Blue Saints Drumline has won two Canadian Drumline Association titles. As a member of the Blue Saints, Ben competed in the 2012 DCI I&E competition finishing in second place in the Percussion Ensemble category.
Additional teaching experience includes being a Snare Drum Tech for a new WGI percussion ensemble, Blue Saints Independent, hosting percussion clinics at various high schools in Ontario as well as beginning his own scholastic drumline in Waterloo, the Edna Staebler Drumline.
Ben has studied under some of Canada’s most prominent percussionists such as Daniel Lamoureux, Jack Broumpton, Gary Gomez and Nathan McLaren. He received his Bachelor of Education in 2013 from Laurentian University and currently performs professionally with 416 BEATS, Canada’s Premiere Entertainment Drumline who perform for the Toronto Raptors, Toronto Blue Jays, CFL, Spotify, Nike and many more.
Ben is committed to growing the marching percussion culture in Ontario and has been a member of the Innovative Percussion Inc. family since 2015.
