Brandon Johnson was born and raised in Southern California and currently resides in Moreno Valley. His percussive experience dates back to 2004. After high school, he began to study concert percussion and composition at Riverside Community College under Steven Schmidt. He simultaneously performed in various marching percussion groups including Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps, RCC Winter Drumline, RCC Marching Tigers, POW Percussion, Yamato Drum and Bugle Corps, and Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. After aging out, Brandon transferred to California State University Fullerton to pursue an undergraduate degree in Music Composition under Kenneth Walicki.
Since 2008, Brandon has been teaching and writing for various high school drumlines in Southern California to include Canyon Springs, Temescal Canyon, John W. North, Santiago, Covina, Patriot, Riverside Poly, and Ayala High Schools. Independent and College ensembles he has taught and written for include UCR, Pace Percussion, and Dark Sky Percussion.
Brandon is currently teaching at Cypress and Chaparral High Schools and is the Percussion Caption Head and Arranger for Watchmen Drum and Bugle Corps.
