Brian Sears was born in San Jose California where he attended Leigh High School and marched with the Longhorn Marching Band for three successful seasons.

Brian was also a member of the Vanguard Cadets Front Ensemble for four seasons. After his final season with the Vanguard organization, he began instructing at Leland High School where he taught their winter percussion line and led them to win the Novice Class Championship. After leaving Leland, he worked with Mountain View High School Spartan Marching Band and Los Altos High School Marching Band before finally settling at Live Oak High School.

In 2008, Brian was the arranger and technician for the Emerald Regime Marching Band (Class 'A' Champions) as well as their Concert Percussion Line (Union City Regional Champions). In 2010, he was promoted to Caption Head and helped Director Jason Locsin bring the program to another 'A' Class Championship, as well as claiming 5th Place overall in the 1/2/3A Championships.

During this time, Brian also performed for two seasons with the San Francisco Renegades Drum & Bugle Corps. During his second season with the organization, he was appointed Co-Section Leader and was the Mallet Solo Champion, as well as leading the Front Ensemble to an Ensemble Championship at the annual I&E festival with one of his original compositions.

This season, he was appointed Front Ensemble Arranger and Technician for the San Francisco Renegades organization.
