Brian Teed joined the Wakeland Band and Percussion Program as the Director of Percussion and Associate Director of Bands in the Summer of 2018. Since his arrival, the Wakeland Band and Percussion Program have thrived, earning the title of the 2022 Bands of America North Texas Regional Champion, placing Bronze at the 2019 5A UIL State Marching Competition, being named 2019, 2021, and 2022 Bands of America 3A Division Regional Champion, being awarded the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield, winning the 2022 Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Competition, receiving an invitation to perform at the 74th Midwest Clinic and Convention and a reissued invitation due to COVID-19 to perform at the 75th Midwest Clinic and Convention in Chicago, IL in December 2020 and 2021, and being

named as a National Winner in the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors Competition and National Winner in the Mark of Excellence National Percussion Ensemble Honors Competition.

Mr. Teed is originally from The Woodlands, Texas. He holds a master’s degree in Percussion Performance and a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma, where he was awarded the Ronald J. Dyer award for outstanding contributions to the OU Percussion Studio. During his graduate degree, Mr. Teed wrote for and taught the University of Oklahoma Drumline. He was the Assistant Director of the OU Steel Drum Band and Director of the “Sooner Showmen” Women’s Basketball Band. He is currently attending Texas A&M University College Station pursuing a Master of Education Administration.

Mr. Teed was named the Teacher of the Year at Wakeland High School in 2022-2023 and in the Spring of 2021, Mr. Teed was honored to be nominated and named into the Inaugural Class of 40 Under 40 Music Educators in the Country by Yamaha Music.

Mr. Teed has performed and presented at numerous conventions and festivals including the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria, The National Convention on Percussion Pedagogy in Norman, Oklahoma, and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. At OU, he earned first place in the University of Oklahoma Concerto Competition in the Graduate Division (2013) and Undergraduate Division (2011). He was a founding member of the Norman Philharmonic Orchestra. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association and the Percussive Arts Society. He is also an endorsed artist for Sabian, Innovative Percussion, Remo, and Yamaha Music.
