Brody Ross is the District
Percussion Director for the Royse City Independent School District, teaching
beginning percussion through the twelfth grade. Previously, he was the Director
of Percussion for Kempner High School and Sugar Land Middle School of Sugar
Land, TX. He coordinated all aspects of the percussion department at Kempner
High School in which they won 2nd and 3rd place in a
National Percussion Ensemble Arranging Competition during his first year with
the program.
Mr. Ross holds a Bachelors of Music Degree in Percussion
Performance from the University of Iowa under the direction of Dr. Daniel
Moore, and a Masters of Music Education, with an emphasis in Percussion
Pedagogy, from Texas A&M University-Commerce under the direction of Dr.
Brian Zator. Over the past eight years he has worked with all aspects of the
percussion spectrum from marching and concert percussion, steel bands,
classical percussion ensembles, and group and private lessons.
As a performer, Mr. Ross has toured all over the United States
and internationally. Some of his standout performances have been with the
University of Iowa Symphonic Band in Carnegie Hall, New York City, New York; the University
of Iowa Percussion Ensemble in Beijing, China; and the Afro-Cuban Drum and
Dance Ensemble at the 2005 Percussive Arts Society International
Convention. He has also toured
throughout the Midwest with the Pan
American Steel Band of Iowa City, Iowa as well as performing in spring
showcase concert tours with Panimation Steel
Band of Commerce, Texas.
As an instructor, Mr. Ross has worked extensively with
middle school, high school, and collegiate ensembles in both marching and
concert settings. He has also written and arranged music for The University of
Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band, The Texas A&M University-Commerce Pride
Marching Band, Pan American Steel
Band, Panimation Steel Band, and
various high school marching programs around the United States.
Mr. Ross is an active member of Percussive Arts Society
(P.A.S.), Percussive Arts Society International Convention (P.A.S.I.C.), Texas
Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), and
Texas Classroom Teachers Association (TCTA).
