Bryan P. Teeters is an accomplished percussionist and music educator located in Youngstown, Ohio. Since graduating from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University with a master’s degree in percussion performance, Bryan spends his time as a freelance musician in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania, as the percussion coordinator for the Youngstown Scoring Stage, teaching percussion privately, and doing extensive work with local school districts.
Teeters is a founding member of the newYopercussion quartet, and performs extensively with local and regional groups including: Michael Christopher band, The Black Wolf and the Thief, and The Big Nasty.
As an educator, Bryan currently holds a private teaching studio of over 30 aspiring musicians, and works as the percussion instructor at Poland and Boardman Local school districts in Ohio. He has previously instructed at the South Range, Crestview, McDonald, and Struthers School districts in Ohio as well as the Clarion and Brookville Area School districts in PA in various capacities as the assistant band director and/or percussion instructor, where he has lead title-holding bands through parades in Clarion, PA and at Disney World in Orlando, FL.
He has been commissioned to compose and/or arrange music for the Youngstown Scoring Stage, Clarion University of Pennsylvania’s dance department and show choir, Keystone Jr. Sr. High School, Clarion Area High School, Crestview High School, and Northern Cambria High School. Bryan has also worked as a clinician and guest performer/conductor at several local school districts, and the Chautauqua County Music Festival in Jamestown, New York.
In addition to his graduate work, Bryan holds a bachelors degree in music education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Along with his music studies there, he did extensive work with CUP’s theater department to include: music direction, performing in many pit orchestras, and working in all elements of technical theater productions. Bryan has also been a part of numerous performances with Stage Left Productions and the Salem Community Theater in OH, as well as the Cook Forest Sawmill Center for the Arts, Franklin Barrow Civic Theater, and many public school programs in Oh and PA. Aside from his extensive work with YSU and CUP’s Music and Theater Departments, Bryan has attended the Masterworks orchestra festival, been a member of the Erie Jr. Philharmonic, performed nationally with touring bands, and performed with the Music School Festival Orchestra at the Chautauqua Institution.
