Clayton Paul is currently the Director of Percussion and Associate Director of Bands for the Vilonia School District in Central Arkansas. He is responsible for all the Percussion Studies 6-12th grade, beginning Flute class and assisting all levels of Concert Band. Clayton received his Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Texas. Before graduating from UNT in 1988, he was a member of the 1984, 1985, and 1986 UNT Drumline. He performed with the Panhandlers Steel Drum Band, 5 o'clock Lab band, African and Javanese Gamelan Ensembles.

While at UNT, Clayton studied drumset with Colin Bailey, Paul Garretson and Ed Soph. He studied timpani with Ron Fink, and snare with Lalo Davila. He was a percussion student under the direction of Dr. Robert Schietroma.

Clayton Spent all of his band directing days in Texas at The Colony's Lakeview Middle School in the Lewisville Independent School District. He started his career student teaching with Kathy Johnson and John Benzer at Griffin Middle School, and Mr. Dick Clardy at The Colony High School. He worked as assistant director for 10 years with Steve Seibert and then as the director of bands for the next 7 years.

Clayton has performed professionally in the Dallas area with small groups and large ensembles. He has made 4 recordings on drumset with the 'Austrian Group' ALPENMUSIKANTEN. The ALPENMUSIKANTEN continues to perform in the Dallas area and has played at every major Oktoberfest in the Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and the Georgia area. Clayton has also participated as a percussionist in over 100 performances of The Nutcracker Ballet. He has performed with the Richardson Symphony under the director of Maestro Ansel Brusilov and Lewisville Lake Symphony under the direction of Adron Ming. Clayton's one brush with greatness came when his blues band in college backed up the late great Bo Diddley for one night at the Poor David's Pub in Dallas, Texas.

Clayton currently resides back in his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas with his daughter Camron. He performs locally and records with the guitarist, singer, and songwriter Mark David of www.SpotlightON.tv. His professional affiliations include: Percussive Arts Society and Arkansas State Band & Orchestra Association.
