David Sankus is the Percussion Director and Arranger for Homestead High School from Cupertino California. He received his B.A. in Music from San Jose State University and his M.M. from The San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied with Anthony J. Cirone and Jack Van Geem. David is currently a freelance percussionist in the Bay Area. His professional experience includes performing with The Scorpions Rock Band from Germany, and The San Jose, California, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Symphonies.

David has spent over 20 years in the Bay Area arranging and teaching for both local and international High Schools, Drum Corps, and WGI groups. In 1994, he was on staff with The Santa Clara Vanguard Cadet Corp. In 1995, he served as caption head for the Concord Blue Devils B Corp. In 1996 through 1998, he served as the front ensemble instructor for the Santa Clara Vanguard A Corp.

David believes lessons learned from drumming can reach further into the student’s lives than just music. He has a true gift for connecting with students and helps them become passionate about what they are doing. David's goal has always been to provide students with a foundation of percussion music from fundamentals to live performances to gain confidence and not be afraid to explore their passions through music and life experiences.
