Fred Bowlus has been an Innovative Percussion Endorser since 2004.  He received his BM degree from the University of Northern Colorado while studying with Gray Barrier.  In addition, he bettered his hand drumming skills and knowledge by studying with world renowned artist Michael Spiro. 

Fred has played with the Greeley Philharmonic, Greeley Chamber Orchestra, Saint Mary’s Baroque Chamber Orchestra, Arapahoe Philharmonic, and the Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble to name a few.  Fred has taught percussion since 1996.  He has instructed and given clinics at many of the top high school, middle school and elementary school music programs in Colorado.  He originally started his teaching career at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, CO, where in his 14 year run he had earned many medals with the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association (RMPA); including Concert Open Champions in 2002 and Concert World Champions in 2008.  He has been a part of several State Marching Band finalist appearances and earned the state’s “Top Percussion Section” recognition in 2005. He had a very active program at Arapahoe, working with 3 concert classes, 3 classical concert percussion ensembles, marching band, a competitive RMPA Percussion Ensemble and numerous private lessons ranging from elementary school through high school.  He was acting conjunctly as the Percussion Specialist with the districts “Middle School Resource Team” from 2003-2007.  His students have received many outstanding awards for Solo/Ensemble Festivals, and over the years, Fred has had countless students in the Colorado All-State Band Percussion Section.  Many of his students choose to continue their music education by continuing as Music Majors in college. 

Fred has been involved with the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association in some manner since 1993, and is currently on the RMPA Board of Directors.  He has also been an adjudicator with the Colorado Bandmasters Association (CBA) for many years.

 Mr. Bowlus is currently the Director of Percussion and the Marching Band Percussion Arranger at Chaparral HS in Parker, CO.  He works with the Concert Bands, Marching Band, 2013 RMPA State Champion Concert World Percussion Ensemble, along with his very active private lesson schedule.
