Gary is the Head of Music Education, Director of Percussion Studies, and Assistant Director of Bands at Louisiana Tech University. He is the director of the Louisiana Tech University Percussion Ensemble and the University Concert Band. He assists with Hoop Troop and the Marching Band of Pride (the University's Athletic Bands). He is a member of the Louisiana Education Consortium (LEC), CBDNA, MENC, LMEA, PAS, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and has been named a National Arts Associate (Distinguished Member) of Sigma Alpha Iota. Gary has presented research on the Identification of Jazz Mystery Recordings on National Public Radio and Tech TV, and at the International Association of Jazz Educators National Conference, the International Jazz Round Table and the Early Brass Society. Gary has served with a number of junior and senior corps in teaching and administrative roles. Gary is a founding member of three-headed monster (3HM) percussion group (www.3HMpercussion.com) based in Ruston, LA. Gary endorses Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion mallets and sticks, and Pearl/Adams.
