Dr. Michael Crawford is a Lecturer of Music Education and Percussion at the University of North Texas (UNT). His responsibilities at UNT include teaching undergraduate and graduate coursework, coordinating the College’s student teaching program, overseeing all curriculum and instruction for the Percussion Methods courses, and co-directing the UNT Percussion Group percussion ensemble.

Before joining the faculty at UNT, Dr. Crawford dedicated a decade of his career to teaching secondary public school throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area metroplex. Additionally, he served on the instrumental faculty at Tarleton State University (Stephenville, TX) and as the drumline instructor/arranger for Baylor University (Waco, TX).

Dr. Crawford has been invited to perform and present at national and international events, including NAfME, CBDNA, TMEA, TBA, National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy, Australian Percussion Eisteddfod (Sydney, Australia), and the Academy of Music in Kraków, Poland. As a percussionist, he regularly performs throughout the United States and Europe with regional orchestras, jazz ensembles, chamber groups, choirs, and various UNT faculty ensembles.

Dr. Crawford is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society Education Committee and Black Swamp Percussion Educator Network. He is a proud endorser of Pearl/Adams percussion instruments and Innovative Percussion sticks/mallets.
