With over 23 years of participation in the marching percussion environment as a performing member, instructor, caption head, arranger and consultant-clinician, Robert Lee Lazenbery brings a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience to any organization that brings him onboard. Affectionately known as “Tex”, he has been described by many as having a positive, hands-on approach to teaching, which has been recognized by both students and instructors throughout the activity.
Robert’s recent experience includes being the program consultant for StarCross Percussion (Bethlehem, PA), where the ensemble achieved a Silver medal placement at the 2013 WGI Unionville Regional, a Gold medal placement at the 2013 Tournament Indoor Association Chapter 5 Championship, a Gold medal placement at the 2013 Mid Atlantic Percussion Society Championship, and a Silver medal placement at the 2013 T.I.A. Atlantic Coast Championship (all in the Independent “A” Percussion class). Other recent experiences include being the battery caption head and tenor technician for Chesapeake Percussion (Baltimore, MD), who were crowned as the 2012 Percussion Independent “A” champions at the 2012 T.I.A. Atlantic Coast Championship, successfully defending the title that they won back in 2011 (his first year on staff). He was also Percussion Co-Caption Head of Fusion Core (Dover, NJ) when they won the 2010 Drum Corps Associates Class “A” championship, as well as tenor technician and drum captain of The Sunrisers (Rockland County, NY) when they won the 2007 DCA Class “A” championship (including winning the prestigious Sean Holton Memorial award for Best Percussion).
Outside of the activity, he is an inventory control/ distribution contractor for a major medical device manufacturer. He also plays drums for a popular heavy metal cover band called NO REMORSE.
Currently, Robert is the Ensemble Coordinator for the newly-reformed Aftermath Percussion (Lehigh Valley, PA); the Percussion Caption Supervisor of the Rahway High School Marching Indian Band (Rahway, NJ); the Percussion Consultant of the Metuchen High School “Pride of Metuchen” Marching Band (Metuchen, NJ), and the Percussion Instructor for the New Providence High School Marching Band (New Providence, NJ). In addition, he is the drum line consultant of the Baltimore Ravens' Marching Ravens Band from Baltimore, Maryland.
