Tyler Nechamkin is a percussion educator/composer/arranger/producer/performer in the Dallas area where he has served as the Percussion Director at McKinney High School since 2019. Under his leadership, McKinney High School has excelled in marching percussion, regularly placing top-3 in their division and earning many caption awards at drumline contests. McKinney High School has also been recognized nationally for their percussion ensemble recordings – earning 2nd place in the Black Swamp Percussion Ensemble Showcase Large Division in 2023 and being named a winner of the Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Competition and invited to perform at PASIC in 2023.
As a performer, Tyler, was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in 2015 and 2016, performed with University of North Texas’ many ensembles including the 2015 PASIC Small Ensemble Champion snare ensemble, and has toured Italy with the Synergy Percussion Group.
Tyler studied at the University of North Texas with Paul Rennick, Christopher Deane, Mark Ford, and Ed Smith and earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. He is a member of Texas Music Educator’s Association and the Percussive Arts Society and is an ASCAP composer with works published by C-Alan Publications and Tapspace.
Tyler lives in McKinney with his wife, Lauren, and their dogs.
