Born in Annapolis, Maryland, Greg Tsalikis has been studying and performing music for nearly 30 years. He has had the pleasure of performing in all facets of percussion ranging from rudimental, to orchestral, world, jazz, rock, and contemporary chamber ensembles. His degrees include a Masters in Percussion Performance from Rice University, as well as a Bachelors in Percussion Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Greg has performed with various artists and ensembles throughout his career, including The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Marvin Hamlisch, Wynton Marsalis, Hilary Hahn, Edgar Meyer, The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Bebe Neuwirth, and The Naval Academy Band. While at the Rice University Shepherd School of Music, he served as principal and section percussionist and timpanist. As well, in 2009, Greg had the honor of being a soloist with the Houston Wind Symphony. He was also afforded the opportunity to play in The Hong Kong New Year's Day Parade, as well as a mallet soloist on tour throughout Australia. During his drum corps days, Greg served as timpanist for the Bluecoats and Reading Buccaneers in the early 2000's.
Previously, Greg has served as the Front Ensemble Arranger & Coordinator for the Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps, as well as the Front Ensemble Arranger & Coordinator for his alum, the Reading Buccaneers. He can also be found working with, and arranging for, many high school bands throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Texas areas. Most recently, Mr. Tsalikis is the Percussion Director & Music Arranger at Obra D. Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas, where he has served this role since the school's opening in 2013.
