James D. Doyle is a music educator who hails from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma, a Master of Arts in Music Education from Adams State University and is currently working towards his Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma. In his years teaching music, James has had the pleasure of working with a wide variety of age levels and ensembles in public schools across Oklahoma and Washington. He has worked as an orchestra, band, and percussion director as well as a private lessons teacher. James is a founding director of Resistance Indoor Percussion. During his tenure as Executive Director for the organization he led the group to both their first regional title and the status of WGI World Championship Finalist.

As a composer and arranger, James has written works for percussion ensemble, band, and orchestra and has works published with C. Alan Publications and Knightwind Music. His piece for orchestra and solo drum set, Jörmungandr (The Great Serpent), was performed at The Midwest Clinic in 2022. James has written battery and front ensemble percussion arrangements for a variety of marching bands throughout the U.S. and is currently the percussion designer and consultant for Norman High School in Norman, OK. He also maintains The Open Source Percussionist, a website with free percussion education materials published under a Creative Commons license so teachers can use, edit, and remix materials as they like.

James is an Innovative Percussion artist and proudly endorses their sticks and mallets.
