Johnny Concannon is a seasoned drummer, percussionist, and music professional with over 20 years of performance experience and 15 years of extensive touring across diverse genres. His versatile skill set spans from live/studio performance to audio production, musical direction, and drum tech. After getting the drum bug at the age of 13, Johnny has honed his craft through a combination of formal education and real-world experience. His career includes playing with top-tier acts like Atreyu, Debbie Gibson, and The Contortionist, as well as working behind the scenes as a drum tech and stage manager for high-profile bands/artists like Bad Wolves, DIAMANTE and Memphis May Fire. He has also contributed to numerous studio projects, providing drums, percussion, keyboards, vocals and production for artists including Atreyu, Bad Wolves, Ken Stringfellow (REM), Michael Lessard (The Contortionist/Last Chance to Reason), BRIIDGES, and RJ Beck. He even steps into the artist role under his solo studio project moniker “SHEEP” and with solo releases that are more drum-focused. The most recent step of his career has been the evolution into working as musical director, bridging the gap between musician and producer in the live realm, bringing show concepts to life for artists and bands alike.
Beyond his work as a performer, Johnny has an extensive background in studio recording and live show production. As a live playback/show designer, he’s crafted seamless, high-energy performances for international tours, ensuring flawless execution of complex audio systems and show dynamics. His technical expertise extends to DAW-based playback show builds and audio production, as seen in his work with Bad Wolves and Atreyu, including notable contributions to Atreyu's “Warrior” track, which was featured prominently on NFL’s Monday Night Football during the 2022 season and recording/producing Bad Wolves’ Wildfire orchestral arrangement featured on the Deluxe Edition of their record Dear Monsters. In addition to his touring and studio work, Johnny is a dedicated educator, providing private lessons online and from his home studio. With a rich and diverse career, Johnny continues to push the boundaries of drumming, performance, and production and hopes to inspire a new generation of drummers and musicians.
