Joe Collins is currently the Assistant Band Director at Muscle Shoals High School in Muscle Shoals, AL, where he teaches the marching percussion sections, middle school percussion, percussion ensemble, and private lessons. 

From 2012-2014 Mr. Collins served as percussion coordinator and arranger for St. Clair County High school of Odenville, AL and American Christian Academy of Tuscaloosa, AL. Also, since 2008 he has regularly been employed by DoubleStop Percussion Inc. of Birmingham, AL to teach for multiple area high school and middle schools. 

He completed his B.S. in Music Education from The University of Alabama in 2012 and M.A. in Education from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2014. Over the course of his continued education, Mr. Collins has had the privilege of performing and learning from several renowned artists and teachers including: Michael Burritt, Colin McNutt, Beth and Danny Gottlieb, Mark Ford, and Andy Harnsberger. His private instructors have included Greg Gumina, Larry Mathis, Neal Flum, Mark Lanter, Michael Glaser, Dr. Gene Fambrough, Sean Womack and Brad Palmer of DoubleStop Percussion Inc. He has performed with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, the Alabama Youth Symphony Orchestra, and was a founding member of the acclaimed Rhythm Entertainment Group of Tuscaloosa, AL. 

As of 2014, Mr. Collins has been on staff at Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps where he has the opportunity to coordinate, rehearse, and arrange for both the battery and front ensemble.

In June of 2015, Mr. Collins married the love of his life, Mrs. Kella Jackson Collins, the University Bands Secretary for the University of North Alabama. They currently reside in Florence, AL. Both Collinses attend and serve Church of the Highlands by leading a curriculum-based small group. When he's not teaching, Mr. Collins enjoys building his own headphones, playing disc golf, and spending time with his beautiful wife.
