Landon is a drum set artist and percussionist based in Ruston, Louisiana. He is the drummer for Russ-Town Jazz and plays in the percussion section of the Russ-Town Band, which presents concert programs featuring a mix of traditional concert band literature and arrangements of well-known works.
Landon performs regularly on drum set in contemporary worship settings and has performed with symphony orchestras including the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Longview Symphony Orchestra, Monroe Symphony Orchestra, South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and Rapides Symphony Orchestra. Earlier in his career, he toured with Hank Staples and Thunder Creek, a classic rock and country group, and was a founding member of the Three Headed Monster Percussion Group, a percussion trio based in North Louisiana. Landon has appeared as a guest artist for many events including the Louisiana Chapter Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion, the LBA Music Conference, the Ark-La-Tex Band Conference, the Biedenharn Museum and Gardens Artist of the Month Concert Series, the Hurley School of Music Piano Festival, the Louisiana Baptist Music Conference, and special performances at the Meyerson Symphony Center.
Landon’s previous roles include serving as Percussion Caption Head and Arranger for Masquerade Drum and Bugle Corps of North Louisiana, administrative staff for Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, and Executive Director and President of the Board for Forte Drum and Bugle Corps and Overture Youth Advocacy Through the Arts. He also served as Executive Director of the Beacon Performing Arts Association.
His work as an educator and arranger has included writing for drumlines and percussion ensembles at Louisiana Tech University, the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Ruston High School, Airline High School, West Ouachita High School, and other school programs across the region. Landon has also appeared as a guest performer with university percussion ensembles and at music conferences and clinics throughout the South.
Landon is the Executive Director of Ruston Youth Advocacy Through the Arts, a nonprofit organization supporting youth involvement in the arts. He is also a practicing attorney who advises music and arts nonprofits on 501(c)(3), governance, and compliance matters.
