Manny Maldonado is highly sought after as a private lesson instructor and show designer, program coordinator, arranger, consultant, clinician, and adjudicator for marching band.
As a private lesson instructor, Manny’s students have won half (2 out of 4) of the qualifying chairs from the area that advance to the Texas Music Educator Association’s All-State Band, an honor bestowed upon 28 percussionists from the state every year. Manny’s students have won half of these chairs four of the past five years.
His students also sweep the T.M.E.A. region in chairs as well, having won the top seven chairs in 2013 and seven of the top eight in 2012.
Manny founded MJM Works, LLC, a marching band design company in 2008. Since then, he has worked with, arranged for, and adjudicated bands across the United States. Many of his clients regularly make finals in both their Bands of America regional competitions as well as their respective state contests.
While at C.T. Johnson High School, Manny helped the band place 10th in the 2012 U.I.L. State Marching Band Contest, 4th at the 2012 Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional, 5th in the 2012 Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band Competition, and 8th in the Bands of America Grand Nationals “Finals” Competition.
The C.T. Johnson drum line received first place at the 2012 Texas Marching Classic Competition, a perfect percussion score at the 2011 Bands of America Grand Nationals “Finals” Competition, first place at the 2010 Lone Star Preview in The Woodlands, Texas, and first place at the 2009 South Texas Classic Drum Line Competition.
While at Cedar Park, Mr. Maldonado helped the band receive many accolades as well. The band placed 2nd in the 2004 U.I.L. Texas State Marching Band Contest, and won the 2002 Duncanville, 2004 Westlake, 2005 Westlake, and the 2007 Sam Houston State Marching Band Competitions. The Cedar Park Band was also awarded the 2006 Sudler Shield for Marching Band Excellence from the John Philip Sousa Foundation.
Manny also serves as the curriculum director and head leadership facilitator for Solutions and Specialized Innovations (SASI). Manny typically speaks to over 1000 student leaders annually on techniques and life skills to help others manage themselves and others more effectively.
When not working, Manny enjoys spending time with his wife, Candace, and their two children, Jameson and Owen. They enjoy camping, fishing, and taking vacations to the beach.
