Maria Singer is in her third year as a band director and percussion specialist of the Mighty Ram Band at Mayde Creek High School in Katy, Texas. During her time at Mayde Creek, Mrs. Singer’s students have achieved superior and excellent ratings at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation, superior ratings at UIL Marching Contest, runner up at both the Battle at the Lakes Drumline Competition and the Gulf Coast Classic Drumline Competition.
Mrs. Singer graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 2017 under the direction of phenomenal educators and conductors including Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt, Dr. Caroline Beatty, Dr. Kyle Glaser, Mr. Matt Holzner, Mrs. Kari Klier, and Mr. Bobby Lopez. While attending Texas State, Mrs. Singer was an active performer in the Texas State Percussion Ensemble, Texas State Symphonic Winds, Texas State Panorama Steel Drum Band, and numerous latin ensembles.
Mrs. Singer also marched indoor percussion with Texas State Indoor
Percussion in 2012 and Teatro Indoor Percussion in 2014, where she won a gold medal at the TCGC Championship. When she wasn’t performing, Mrs. Singer taught percussion lessons, drumline, and indoor percussion at several schools including Sharpstown High School, Elsik High School, and most recently Morton Ranch High School.
Mrs. Singer is an active member of Texas Music Educators Association, Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association, Percussive Arts Society, and Texas Bandmasters Association.
