Matt Ferry is the New England Territory Manager for MakeMusic Inc. creators of the Finale and SmartMusic software where he has assisted with the implementation of music technology tools in hundreds of school systems across the US, Canada, China, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Norway, India, and Qatar. Prior to working in the Education Sales Department at MakeMusic, Matt spent 3 years providing technical support for the entire line of MakeMusic notation and music education solutions.
Outside of his work in music technology, Matt is a sought after percussion arranger, educator, clinician, and adjudicator for indoor percussion, marching band, and percussion ensembles across the United States. Matt has been on the leadership and design teams for Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps since 2003 which has included four DCA percussion titles and the 2011 DCA World Championship. Matt is also a proud founding member of MN Brass Indoor where he serves as the Front Ensemble Coordinator, Arranger and Digital Sound Designer. In addition to his work with MN Brass, Matt has supervised the percussion sections at several high schools in the Upper Midwest including Anoka High School (MN), Irondale High School (MN), Rosemount High School (MN), and Valley High School (IA).
As a performer Matt was a member of the Cavaliers 1999 and 2000 Fred Sanford High Percussion Section and the 2000-2002 DCI Word Champions. Mr. Ferry is an alumnus of the University of Minnesota where he studied Percussion with Fernando Meza and Instrumental Music Education with David Teachout, Jerry Luckhardt, and Craig Kirchoff. Matt has also studied percussion with Erik Johnson, Bret Kuhn, Alan Miller, Rob Moore, Gary Rudolph, Mike McIntosh, Phil Hey, Rolando Morales Matos, Nebojsa Zivkovic, and Earl Yowell.
