Michael McGlynn is a native of Oconomowoc, Winconsin. He moved to Auburn, Alabama when he was fifteen. McGlynn received his Bachelor's of Education Degree at Auburn University where he studied with Mr. Troy Breaux and Dr. Doug Rosener. He teaches full time and is the Associate Band/Percussion Director at Opelika High School as well as instructing the Auburn University Drumline.
Under the director of Mike, the Opelika Concert Percussion Ensemble has performed at the Alabama State Day of Percussion and has developed a scholastic indoor percussion ensemble. Mike continues to educate his students in many different world percussion styles and offers students opportunities to study taiko drumming, steel drumming, drumset, hand percussion, solo marimba literature, orchestral excerpts, and many others. He continues to work with many high schools around the southeast area throughout the school year. Mike has written arrangements for drumline and percussion ensembles throughout the southeast as well as steel drum arrangements on the collegaite level.
Among his many accomplishments, Mike marched with the La Crosse Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps. Ha has performed with numerous orchestra in the south as well as the traveling Broadway musical "A Chorus Line." Mike has been hosting a "Yamaha Sounds of Summer Camp" since 2010. He stays active with the Alabama Chapter of PAS. Mike proudly endorses Innovative Percussion.
