Born and raised in New Orleans, LA Neilson Bernard began learning the drums at the age of 12 years old. He began to perform in his own original rock bands at 16 and soon became interested in the various musical styles that can be heard in New Orleans. Neilson spent years as a student to the working drummers of New Orleans and now shares his knowledge with his own students in the surrounding area. He performs in several active ensembles and is best recognized for his work performing and recording with swing / rock band, Squirrel Nut Zippers.
