Patrick Overturf is a vibraphonist and percussionist based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, he maintains a diverse performance career spanning jazz, orchestral, and contemporary chamber music. As a jazz vibraphonist, Patrick leads his own quartet, performing music influenced by artists such as Bobby Hutcherson and Steve Swallow. His group has appeared at venues throughout North Texas, including the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival.
Patrick has performed with Quincy Davis, José Aponte, and many others. Patrick is a 2026 nominee in the ‘Best Auxiliary Percussionist’ category for the Dallas Entertainment Awards and was a runner-up and the only American finalist in the 2024 PAS Italy Jazz Vibraphone Competition. He performs regularly with ensembles including Sounds Modern, the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, the Sherman Symphony, and the McKinney Philharmonic. In 2025, Patrick will perform at PASIC as a member of the University of North Texas Percussion Ensemble.
Patrick is currently a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas, where he is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Percussion Performance. He has also taught extensively throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area, including in Lewisville ISD (Hebron Cluster), Highland Park ISD, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Frisco ISD, Richardson ISD, and Melissa ISD. He holds a Master of Music from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Capital University.
When not performing or teaching, Patrick enjoys spending time with his wife, Carole, their dog, Winnie, and their two cats, Maestro and Oscar.
