Paul Lack holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Whitworth University double majoring in both Jazz and Percussion Performance. He was a 4-year member of the award winning Whitworth Jazz Band, playing with such artists as Kenny Garrett and Robin Eubanks. While playing with Whitworth, Paul has toured abroad to Italy & Brazil as well as many points throughout the United States.
Paul has received many awards including being named the top Jazz drummer at the 2002 Bands of America summer symposium, Gene Harris Jazz festival, and also the Woody Herman Jazz Festival. He has received solo awards at many Jazz festivals and also was named the 2003 Washington WMEA State champion in Multiple Percussion and State Runner-up in Snare Drum.
Paul was a 3 year member of the Seattle Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps, winning a Division III World Championship in 2000, and also a Division II High Percussion title in 2001.
Paul was the percussion director at Mead High School from 2003 to 2007 where they won many marching percussion titles at local and regional competitions. He also led the Mead Percussion Ensemble to a Washington State Championship in 2005. In 2009, he was the percussion caption head at Central Valley High school who finished runner-up at the Vancouver WGI Regional. Paul has taught the Spokane Thunder Drum & Bugle Corps as well as arranged/consulted for many schools including Hanford High School (Richland, WA) Centennial High School (Las Vegas, NV) West Valley High School (Yakima, WA), and Northern Arizona University (Flagstaff, AZ).
Paul’s instructors and teachers include David Reeves, Matt Little, Rob Lewis, Paul Raymond, Ed Soph, Steve Houghton, Robert Briethaupt, and Daniel Cox.
