Phillip Elder is the Director of Percussion for the Denton High School cluster in Denton ISD. The percussion program currently consists of 75 6th-12th grade students. The DHS Varsity Percussion Ensemble was the 2016 winner of the National Foundation for Music Education’s Percussion Ensemble Contest. In addition to his work with the Denton High School percussion program, he also serves on the administrative board for the Roots Independent indoor drumline. He is a 2012 graduate of the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston with degrees in music education and music composition, and an alumnus of the Santa Clara Vanguard. He is proud to endorse Innovative Percussion. Other professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society and the Texas Music Educators Association.
