Rena (pronounced René) Beavers is a Southern California based drummer originally from the central California area. As a young boy, Rena discovered music while attending church, as well as the sounds of Motown, classic rock, and more… "If it was on the radio I listened to it," says Rena. "I played on anything and everything that resembled a drum!"
By the time Rena reached college he was immersed in the sounds of jazz and blues (as well as soul and funk), and he had the opportunity to put his skills to use in the school's day and night jazz bands . This afforded him the opportunity to perform with many jazz notables, including Conti Candoli, Bill Watrous, Pete Christlieb, and Ernie Watts among others. After a stint in Nashville, Rena moved back to Los Angeles, where he became the first call drummer at a local venue, backing special guests Jimmy Vivino, Kal David, Chris Cain, John Primer, John Mayall, Joe Bonamassa, Kirk "Eli" Fletcherand others. During this time period, Rena met blues guitar great Coco Montoya, and has held the drum chair with him for over 10 years. Rena is currently on tour with Coco Montoya throughout the USA and Europe.
Rena endorses Remo Drumheads, Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion, Sakae Osaka Heritage Drums, Orthopedic Drum Thrones, Ahead Armor Cases, Snareweight, Telefunken Microphones, Future Sonics, Cympad, Earrasers Ear Plugs, and SledgePad. Rena is also a Dunnett Classic Drums designate.
