Scott got his start in music at Dana Middle School, studying under award-winning band director Efrain Nava and continuing his musical studies throughout his years at San Pedro High School. Upon graduating, Mr. Martin started teaching percussion for the Los Angeles Unified School District All District Honor Band under the direction of acclaimed artist and music director, Anthony White. The LAUSD Honor Band (also known as the All City Marching Band) is a Beyond the Bell Music and Entertainment sponsored group that annually marches in the Tournament of Roses which hosts Bandfest, the Disneyland parade and the world-renowned Rose Parade. Scott marched in the band as a high school student and still instructs the group today. He also went on to instruct at Don Bosco Technical High School and El Sereno Middle School where his forty five piece winter drumline took first place in the Junior Division for the 2014 American Drumline Association Championships. During his time at El Sereno Middle School, Mr. Martin has led his drumlines to three consecutive District Championships and has worked with Music Director and United Way “Teacher to Watch” award recipient Ariel Legaspi to produce the schools concert bands, marching bands and jazz big bands. 

Currently, Scott works with Beyond the Bell Music and Entertainment Education helping to promote arts to students throughout California and in the summertime runs a successful music program where he instructs both elementary and middle school music students. He is also currently finishing his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at California State University, Los Angeles with an emphasis in Percussion Studies. 

As a performer, Scott has played with a multitude of music groups that have ranged from the LAUSD All District Honor Band, Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra, Pasadena City College Lancer Jazz Big Band, Cal State Los Angeles Wind Ensemble, as well as many other groups. Mr. Martin has had the pleasure of performing and collaborating alongside music artists such as Morten Lauridsen, Steve Wilkerson, Leon “Ndugu” Chancler, Dave Tull, Jon Batiste, and Gordon Goodwin, and continues to collaborate and perform with the Tony White Collective to this day.
