Scott Tanaka is an active percussion instructor based in the Southern California region with an array of background as a performer, educator, and designer. Scott is a graduate of California State University, Northridge with a degree in Music Industry Studies (Percussion emphasis) whose experience and schooling has included music production, composition, music education, and business management. 

Scott is currently the Percussion Director and Show Designer for San Marino HS, where he has forged and built a nationally competitive percussion program, and continues to pursue his passion as a music educator. Prior teaching experience includes various high school programs as Percussion Director/Designer, Mandarins Drum & Bugle Corps as a Snare drum Instructor, Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps as a Battery Instructor, and Élan Percussion as a Visual Designer.

 

Scott’s performing experience includes nationally renowned programs such as Pulse Percussion Ensemble (World), Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps, Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps, and Yamato Drum & Bugle Corps.

 

Scott is proud to be an Innovative Percussion and Tama Marching Percussion Educational Artist, and currently resides in Torrance, CA.
