Tamara Williams has worked at Dueitt Middle School of Spring Independent School District as a Percussion Specialist for two years. She is an active musician and performer around the Greater Houston Area in blues, rock, Christian-rock, contemporary/ classical styles. Tamara is also a member of The Woodlands Symphony and The NFL’s Houston Texan Drumline. Tamara Williams received her degree in Music Education from Sam Houston State University, where she studied percussion with Dr. John Lane. She earned her Masters in Percussion Performance at the University of Arizona under the guidance of Dr. Norman Weinberg. During her time at SHSU, Tamara was heavily involved with performing ensembles. She toured nationally and internationally with the SHSU Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Ms. Williams took a brief hiatus from her undergraduate years, when she was cast for the 2008 Japan Tour of Odyssey: Brass Angels; a two-hour stage show featuring a fast-paced mix of musical styles combined with the dynamic motion of marching and dance.

In 2016, after only two years at Dueitt MS, her hard-working and dedicated students, the Dueitt Middle School Percussion Ensemble was named a National Winner in the inaugural Mark of Excellence National Percussion Honors competition. This earned an invitation to perform at the esteemed Music For All Sandy Feldstein Percussion Festival in Indianapolis in 2017.

She is an active member of TMEA, PAS, Let Them Drum, and the Houston Blues Society.
