Tim
Maynard is currently the Director of Percussion and Assistant Director of Bands
at Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas. He has taught and
performed throughout the United States, as well as Canada and Mexico.
Tim
is a member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps percussion staff. He was the
battery coordinator for the corps in 2011 when they won the Fred Sanford Award
for Best Percussion Performance. In addition to his teaching responsibilities
at The Cavaliers, Tim is also a long-time member of the percussion staff at
Music City Mystique. The group has won three WGI world championships during his
teaching tenure, including 2011 when he served as the battery caption head. He
has also provided instruction for the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, the
Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Middle Tennessee State University Band of Blue.
As
a four-year member of the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, Tim won two DCI world
championships and received awards including “Rookie of the Year” and “Cadet of
the Year.” He won two WGI world championships as a member of Music City Mystique. Tim has also won the PASIC college marching competition and finished second at
PASIC as a soloist.
Tim
holds a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Instrumental Music
Education from Middle Tennessee State University. He is an educational
artist/endorser for Innovative Percussion and Evans drumheads, and has been
published by Tapspace Publications and Drum
Corps International Magazine. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society
and was part of clinics given at the society’s convention (PASIC) in 2007 and
2009.
